Dumpsters And Protective Gear Makes It Easier To Clear A Hoarder's House
Posted on: 5 March 2018
Dealing with a relative who has a problem with hoarding can be difficult. There are so many different things that you have to do to make sure that everything goes well. That can include dealing with the city in case your relative has started racking up violations and fines, dealing with mental health professionals for your relative, dealing with a landlord or bank, and then handling the hoard itself. Trying to clean all that up can be stressful and will take a lot of work and energy. You will want to make sure that you have all the right tools to handle it.
Dumpsters
The first part of making sure that you have the right tools is making sure that you have somewhere to put all the trash and other refuse. That's where a dumpster that you can rent comes into play. You are going to need to throw away so much more than your city may pick up and you don't want to leave the trash sitting until trash collection day. Plus, if your city has a pay-as-you-throw scheme, it can cost more to throw the garbage away then it would to rent a dumpster since you would have to pay for the trash bags. With a dumpster, you can throw all the refuse away as necessary. There isn't any wait time. You will also be able to throw away larger items, like furniture or appliances. Another benefit of using a dumpster is that you can arrange for the rental company to come take it away and dispose of all the waste and bring you a new dumpster for you to fill up.
Protective Gear
Another tool that you are going to need to clean up your relative's house is protective gear. You don't know what you are going to run into there, and you want to make sure that you aren't going to get sick or injured by something in there. There are several different things that fall into the protective gear category. That includes things like disposable suits that you can put over your clothes and then just take off and throw away when you are done. You are also going to want to have some kind of eye protection and work gloves. You will also need some kind of mask, whether it's a dust mask or a respirator, you want to make sure that mold, dust, or other contaminants don't get into your respiratory system.
